Optical Balancing Kit, Accessory for NVH Kit
The PicoDiagnostics NVH kit can also support balancing of rotating components when used with the optional Optical Sensor kit.
The NVH kit reveals problems with vibrations that are related to engine speed (RPM), propshaft speed, road speed or other unrelated frequencies. Using the example of a propshaft-related vibration, rebalancing the propshaft can be a lot faster and cheaper than replacing the component.
The balancing kit contains a high quality optical sensor together with interface to connect that to your PicoScope, and a robust magnetic mount so that the optical sensor can be held in the correct position.
Included as part of our PicoDiagnostics software, the Propshaft balancing test provides clear advice and guides you through analysis and test procedures.
The Balancing software supports different methods such as
pinion flange (adding weights to existing holes in the flange)
and hose clamp (clamping weights to the shaft using jubilee clips).
In each case the system provides complete guidance and direct instructions on both the weight and location to balance the shaft.
Together with the NVH kit, this system brings to the technician the level of capability previously only available in the vehicle manufacturer's factory or expensive, dedicated repair facilities. All of this is supported by our ongoing software updates that will continue to improve the system long after initial purchase.
The kit contains the following components:

1 x TA186 optical sensor with 3.5mm headphone jack
1 x TA187 magnetic base for the optical sensor
1 x TA260 0.5m cable with insulated BNC plugs
1 x TA196 reflecting tape for propshaft balancing
1 x PA100 carry case for the optical sensor kit
