An IEPE oscilloscope that you can afford

Normally if you want to use sensors according to the IEPE industrial standard, you either need to buy an expensive oscilloscope with an IEPE interface, or an equally expensive add-on module.

Not anymore! The PicoScope 4224 IEPE is at a price you can afford and features an integrated IEPE interface making it compatible with any industry-standard IEPE accelerometers and microphones.

The IEPE (Integrated Electronic Piezo Electric) interface standard IEEE 1451.4 is most commonly used to power accelerometers. However there are many other sensor types which use this interface, such as microphones, impulse hammers, acoustic, force and pressure sensors to name but a few.

This new scope model is produced for customers who want to use the scope to monitor vibration and acoustic waveforms using accelerometers or microphones out in the field.

Accelerometers can be highly sensitive, so a scope was needed with high voltage resolution so as to capture even the smallest incremental change. The only thing missing until now, was a constant current source to provide power to the accelerometer. This made the PicoScope 4224 the ideal host for a new variant suited to electro-mechanical sensor applications. Adopting the IEPE interface standard for sensor power on both channels, the new PicoScope 4224 IEPE was born.

Equipped with the standard BNC connectors and with the standard PicoScope software, it can also be used as a standard PC hosted 2-channel digital storage oscilloscope, similar to the regular PicoScope 4224.

Pico also supplies an optional single-axis IEPE accelerometer with a range of ±490 m/s2 (±50 g).
